Editor's note: These articles analyze the degree to which NDP leadership candidates are committed to internal party reform, including breaking the institutional tie to organized labour and outlawing both labour and corporate financial contributions. The articles will also examine the extent to which the candidates are willing to shed the tired policy clichés of the old Canadian left; clichés which include, among other things, knee jerk opposition to international trade agreements and a frequent resort to anti-American sentiment to mask a surfeit of new ideas.

The goal of these articles is not to belittle the leadership candidates or to take easy political shots - the NDP is privileged to have a fine group of dedicated people seeking the leadership of the party -- rather, these articles are aimed at provoking thought and comment among those who hope for fundamental change within the NDP.
