A loosely knit group calling itself NDProgress formed in
late 2000. Initially started as a relatively small initiative
embracing NDP modernization and structural reform, NDProgress
has evloved into a broad (200 plus) e-mail based group of
party activists pushing for internal party democracy including
the system of one member one vote for election of party leaders.
NDProgress has also been associated with other party structural
reform suggestions such as changing the NDP's ties to organized
labour, reforming party finance laws to prohibit corporate
and labour donations and reducing the federal NDP's reliance
on its provinicial sections for money and membership. While
NDProgess has eschewed political party policy discussions,
its website and listserv may still be of interest to people
interested in modern social democratic policy.
